Easter 2003

Western & Blue Mountains Region
Childrens Hospital Easter Eggs
Easter 2003.

It started last year when Doug Midgley suggested that we should get more involved with the local community, and he suggested that we could start with the Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals childrens wards at Easter time in 2003.

It was decided that as many of our members as possible make at least one small bowl. I know that some of us made 4 to 6 bowls. The idea was that we contact some companies involved making Easter eggs. Not one of the companies who were contacted by letter found it necessary to help out, as none of them acknowledged our request for them to donate the Easter eggs required.

In the end our Region donated the Easter eggs and Brenda and Bill Moore and Henny and Adrian Barendregt spend an evening putting all the eggs in the small bowls and covered them with cling wrap. On Tuesday 8-4-03 Bill Moore and myself presented them to the hospital and they in turn will give them to the kids at Easter time. I was very proud to present one of the small bowls to one of the kids so she could get her picture taken for the local newspaper. The smile said it all. We were also presented with a certificate of acknowledgment and that will find a good place in our hall. I am sure that there will be many smiles on the day when the children get their little presents.

Those who helped with all the work, thank you very much and you can be very proud of yourselves. Maybe next time we may even get 100% participation. A job well done and thank you again
The hospital staff asked me to thank all who helped with this project
